Setting Goals And Accomplishing Them

A guided meditation to achieving your goals and having the life you want.

ANYTHING'S PODDABLE PODCAST

To begin this meditation, please bring kind awareness to:

1. Why did you chose this topic?

2. How your belly, chest, and head each feel when you reflect on this topic.

3. The emotions that you can associate with these visceral feelings.

4. The positive or negative impact of any stories you believe in regarding this topic.

5. The fact that many others are feeling similarly about this topic as you.

6. How you might feel with increase awareness around this topic.

7. When you can apply increased mindfulness to this topic in your day to day life.

We are going to begin by embarking on a journey within, getting in touch with our body.

Get comfortable and sit down with straight back or lie down…

Feel the weight of your body pressing down against the surface you are on, and observe your body setting in..

Good

Starting off with our feel, tense the muscles in you feet and focus only here.

Tightly squeeze the muscles in your feet (hold for 4 seconds ) now let go completely, do not tense any longer

Go to your calves now and tense both of your calves, tensing all the muscles here….

Now let it go.

Now go up to your thighs and tense your quads firmly.

Feeling all this tension in your thighs

Good, you can let it go.

Focusing on your pelvis and hips, tense this area as much as you can

And let it go

Let’s bring our focus to our belly, activate your abdominal muscles, making your entire stomach firm, and feel all the tension and let it go

Great You’re doing amazing.

It feels good to let go of all the tension that has built up in the body.

Now let’s tense are hands, make a fist with your hands and grip as hard as you can.

Hold the tension and let it go.

Up to your chest area now, tense all the muscles around your chest and back.

Flex your shoulder and all other muscles around this area. Holding the tension and relax.

Now tense your face

Make a face and tense all the muscles in this area, holding this tension and let it go.

Very good.

By feeling your body and connecting to it with your mind you create a unity between the body and mind which generates deep relaxation and state of creativity.

It is then that we can pull our goals towards us with universal energy that flows through everything.

Now you are in a deep alpha brain wave state completely relaxed

Mind is open

I would like for you to set two goals for yourself.

A short-term goal that is accomplished in the next 2 or 3 months’ time, and a long term goal that is accomplished in the next 2 to 3 years.

First, set the goal that you want to accomplish in the next 2 to 3 months.

Vividly see yourself achieving this goal in a couple of months. Take note of how it feels to achieve your goal.

Picture your surroundings with as much detail as possible.

See the colors being very bright and all the action happening around you.

How does it feel in your body when you accomplish this goal?

Let this emotion of accomplishment fill you……

Good.

Now, set a long-term goal that you will achieve in the next 2 or 3 years of time.

See yourself achieving this goal.

Look around and see all the little details around you….people, objects, nature or whatever you see.

Picture it as vividly as you can.

See your friends and many people congratulating you on your accomplishments. Notice how it feels to achieve what you desire.

Let this feeling grow and fill you up completely…

Now slowly and gently start coming back to your surroundings.

When you are ready, you can open your eyes.

Give thanks to yourself, and good job today.

You Don’t Get To Tell My Story. I Do

AUDITORY RANGE IMAGERY GUIDE

A Deep Dive into Guided Imagery

It’s hard to build a better future if you don’t know your strengths. Knowing your strengths will allow you to use them to build good things and plow your way through those difficult challenges and roadblocks ahead of you.

Knowing your weaknesses is important, too. You may not think of weaknesses as the “best parts of you” but a weakness is really a potential in disguise. It represents an area of your life that you can continue to develop — something you can grow. As it grows, it becomes something bigger, better, and more fulfilling. In a way, a weakness is like a seed — it has the potential to be a big, strong tree, as long as you give it the nutrients it needs. Proper self-care and a growth mindset can help you turn your weaknesses into strengths.

Some of our other great parts of ourselves are ones we don’t necessarily realize or acknowledge as much as we should.

With all this in mind, let’s take a quick journey just to relax.

Then you will have a chance to answer a few of self- exploration questions.

GUIDED IMAGERY #1 Let’s all look on the bright side

Life isn’t always puppy dogs and rainbows, but there are some good things in every day if you look hard enough. The same can be said for each of us. None of us is perfect. None of us are 100% good, 100% of the time. None of us have achieved and become everything we wish to be in life. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some good things about us.

On this journey, I invite you to find a happy and comfortable place. This place may be somewhere you have visited before or it may be somewhere you will create in your own mind.

It may be realistic — looking much like a place on Earth, or it may be a make-believe landscape filled where trees are purple and the sky is orange. To get to this happy, comfortable place you will fly up into the sky in your imagination. You are going somewhere completely safe with only positive feelings and emotions.

So, when you are ready, fly up into the clouds or the clear blue sky in your mind.

Take a moment to enjoy the weightlessness of your body as you float in the sky — knowing that you are completely safe. Take a look at the world as you float around. Notice the people, the plants, the buildings. See how it looks so calm and peaceful from a distance. But you are going somewhere even calmer and more peaceful for this journey. When you feel ready, take flight off into the sky.

Climb up through the white puffs of clouds, feeling the mist of future raindrops gently caressing your face. Fly around the sky above the earth until you can see, below you, your destination. You will know it as soon as you see it — it will look like a place that makes you feel calm, warm, happy, and safe. Maybe you will feel it approaching before you even get there.

Use your senses to discover your special place and when you feel confident that you’ve come across is it allow yourself to slowly descend from the cloud down toward the ground.

When you land on the ground, take a long look around you.

What does your special place look like, smell like, feel like?

What colors do you see?

Are there plants? Trees?

Are there animals here with you in your safe place?

Maybe there are people. If so, are they people you know?

Do you see buildings in your special place?

What do they look like?

Are they tall and solid, or small and built of soft materials like moss or cotton candy?

Remember, your special happy place is whatever you want it to be.

Can you hear anything? The gentle rolling of ocean waves, soft music playing from a distance, the sound of people laughing? What sort of a place is this? What things are happening here that make you feel safe?

After you’ve taken a moment to look around in this safe place, look around until you find a building or a cave or some sort of special area with walls. Make your way to this special area and walk inside.

All around you the walls are covered with pictures — photographs and illustrations.

Each of these photographs and illustrations was taped to the wall by a person you know. Your friends, your family, your neighbors, your hairdresser, the nice lady who works at the grocery store.

And each of these photographs or illustrations represents a snippet in time from your own life.

These aren’t necessarily photographs you could find in the real world — they may never have been taken. But in this special place they exist. Each of these pictures — represents a time in your life when your positive qualities have shone through.

They represent things like: times you have helped other people; times you have made people laugh; things you have done to go above and beyond; times you’ve been a good friend; your positive personal characteristics. Some of these photographs and illustrations exhibit your compassion, some show your humor.

Some of these pictures show your strength in action — physical or emotional.

As you look around at these pictures, imagine how you would feel if you were able to accept all of these positive qualities. Take some time to sit with this feeling.

When you’re ready, tuck a few of these pictures in your pocket and make the journey back to the current moment.

Journal Reflection Questions

1. What sorts of memories did you come across on your photo wall?

2. What kinds of positive qualities did you find in yourself?

3. Describe a time when you showed compassion in your life and the positive effect it had on another person.

4. Describe a time when you exhibited emotional strength.

5. Describe a time when your humor had a positive impact on the people around you.

6. What did it feel like to complete this exercise? How did you feel during your journey?

How did you feel answering these questions?

7. What has this exercise taught you about yourself and/or your life?

Winning Tactics For Writing Your Best

Secrets to getting to know yourself as a writer

Created By Author

In order to become a better writer, you should focus on improving your craft from both a technical standpoint and an aesthetic one. The more work we put into our writing the easier it becomes for us as writers. I wish all the all the fundamental writing skills just came naturally when trying new things or editing previous and new pieces that didn’t quite flow well.

In my own work I’ll find that some things come easy while other skills don’t. Does that mean I should give up NO! Writer’s, Journalist, and Content Creators are always improving their craft by practicing various writing skills and reading.

If you’re serious about improving your craft the first step is acquiring a basic understanding of your work. This means understanding things like plot points and character development.

There are four main types each type has its own unique style of writing. Let’s go over those now

Created By Author

EXPOSITORY

Expository writing is a type of writing that is used to explain or expose a topic.

This type of writing is often used in academic settings, such as in essays and research papers.

In Expository writing, the author aims to provide information about a topic without taking a position on it. Expository writing is not intended to be persuasive or opinionated. Instead simply to inform the reader about the topic at hand.

There are many different types of Expository writing, the most common is the five paragraph essay. This type of essay consist of an introduction paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. Each body paragraph should focus on one main idea.

Expository writing can be found in many different places, such as magazines, textbooks and online articles. Often used by journalist to report on current events or issues.

NARRATIVE

Narrative writing is a style of writing that tells a story. In Narrative writing, the writer uses words to create a story that is both interesting and engaging.

The writer may use different techniques, such as dialogue, description, and action. These are all used to bring the story to life.

Narrative writing can be used for many different purposes, such as entertain or inform readers. It can also be used to teach or share a message with readers. Whatever purpose of the Narrative may be, the most important thing is that is captures the reader’s attention and holds until the end.

PERSUASIVE

Persuasive writing is a form of writing in which the writer attempts to convince the reader to agree with their opinion on a given issue. There’s no one answer to the question of what is persuasive writing?

It’s one that can take many different forms, and what works to convince one person might not work on another.

Persuasive writing employs a variety of devices to achieve its purpose. Examples include loaded language, emotional Appeals, personal stories or testimonies, logical reasoning, and factual evidence.

DESCRIPTIVE

Descriptive writing is all about creating a vivid image in the reader’s mind. This involves using sensory details to paint a picture in the reader’s mind. To do things effectively, you need to use concrete, specific words and descriptions. You also need to be careful not to include too much information or get bogged down in the details. The goal is to create a clear and vivid image that engages the reader’s imagination.

An example of descriptive writing:

The sun slowly peeked over the horizon, its rays stretching out like fingers across the water. The sky was ablaze with colors, blues and oranges mixing together in a beautiful symphony.

As you can see, this description creates a very vivid mental image for the reader. It allows them to experience what the writer is trying to describe in a more impactful piece.

PANTSING VS PLOTTING

Created By Author

There’s no one answer to this question since there are two different methods of writing pantsing vs plotting. They both have their pros and cons.

Pantsing is when you just sit down and write without any outline or plan. You just go with the flow and see where the story takes you.

The advantage of this method is that it’s often more spontaneous and can lead to some surprises in the story that your wouldn’t have thought of if you’ve been planning everything out ahead of time.

The down fall of this is it can be hard to stay on track and the story moving forward if you don’t have a plan to fall back on.

If you’re the type of person who likes to plan everything out in advance, then pantsing simply isn’t going to work for you. You need to know where your story is going in order to write it effectively. Plotting can help prevent dreaded writer’s block moments, because you always have a clear goal in mind.

If you’re ever stuck on what to write about there are a few resources and techniques that are sure to create some inspiration within you.

Writing Prompts

If you’re anything like me, you sometimes need a little help when it comes to coming up with new ideas for something to write about. That’s where prompts come in.

Writing Prompts can provide inspiration when your mind is feeling blank or derailed. Sometimes all you need is a simple prompt to get your creative juices flowing again.

Think of writing prompts as a way of jump starting your process. By giving yourself a specific question or task to focus on, you can usually get going even when you get stuck

Try this writing prompts example:

Write the beginning of a story in which someone receives some unexpected news.

A CAUTIONARY TALE OF PETER PAN.

A TRAGIC AND CAUTIONARY TALE OF THE ICONIC ACTOR WE ALL KNOW AS PETER PAN.

“All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again”

Peter Pan
the tragic story of peter pan
Created By Author

Bobby’s story is a cautionary tale about the dark side of child stardom. And a very Tragic story.

Bobby Driscoll was one of the most successful child actors of his generation. But his life took a sad and tragic turn after he left Hollywood.

On March 30th the year 1968 two children were playing in an abandoned tenement. (A building that is rented to multiple tenants commonly low rent and run down). In Greenwich Village when they came across a body of an unidentified man. Laying on a cot beside empty beers bottles and religious pamphlets littered beside him.

NO ONE KNEW HIM

No identification not one village resident could identify this man. He was a mystery.

When I read about this story and then soon realized the unidentified man we are referring to is Bobby Driscoll one of the most successful child stars. The Iconic voice and model behind the character Peter Pan and many other Walt Disney Movies.

LET’S DIVE DEEPER INTO THIS TRAGIC STORY

However you remember Peter Pan most importantly it’s important to note how much Bobby Driscoll impacted a culture through entertainment. Especially considering some people don’t even realize the name behind the character nor their story. I thought I would share it.

I really wanted to bring light to an Iconic Actor who also a human being was used up and thrown away like trash as a child star. He just couldn’t come to terms with leaving Neverland. As tragic this story is, it should be heard, and my question is why is no one talking about this. Or maybe I missed it, so if you missed out as well.

Let’s DIVE DEEPER into the cautionary tale of Bobby Driscoll.

Let’s DIVE DEEPER into the cautionary tale of Bobby Driscoll.

By 1949 Bobby was awarded the Best Performance by a child actor. Over the course of his career he would win multiple awards.

He also featured in films like Treasure Island. At a young age he was the first Walt Disney child star to sign a contract with Disney Pictures. Going on tog become the voice and model behind Walt Disney’s Peter Pan. By the 1960’s Driscoll’s career had begun to decline. He started having personal problems and became addicted to drugs.

In 1968 he was arrested for possession of LSD. Struggling with addiction for many years and ended up living on the streets. Bobby Driscoll felt like he was used and thrown away once he was too old.

Bobby even admitted “ I started putting all my spare time into my arm” until one day Bobby just disappeared.

the tragic story of peter pan

This is how the Tragic Story of Bobby Driscoll Begins. On March 30th in 1968, two children were playing in a tenement building on 10th st. In the Greenwich East Village. What they came across was a terrifying corpse. Lying on a cot with beer bottle and religious pamphlets littered the floor next to the cot.

The body these two children had discovered was Bobby Driscoll but not one person in this village knew this was the iconic Bobby Driscoll dying at the young age of 31.

The unidentified body was take to the medical examiner’s office and autopsied with the cause of death being hardened arteries from heroin addiction.

They tried to identify this mysterious man found in a empty building in the village showing his picture around town but no one knew who this nameless man was or where he was from.

Bobby Driscoll from the Iconic Peter Pan and many other films was categorized as just another dead junkie. The only thing the coroner’s office could do now was to fingerprint the corpse and send it off for burial on Hart Island.

What and where is Hart Island?

Hart Island is where New York City buries their poor and unclaimed bodies. A public burial ground that lies in the East Bronx.

hart island where the tragic story ends

You may remember hearing about Hart Island for it has recently been talked about in the news after the CoronaVirus hit New York. Early in the pandemic when there was mass amounts of deaths taking everyone by surprise.

Bobby Driscoll is sadly one of the million bodies buried at Hart Island.

Tragic Story

The sad part is no one even knows where his body is buried due to the records between 1961–1976 were destroyed in a fire.

His own mother didn’t even know he passed until about a year and half after his death. Bobby Driscoll father was dying and his mother wanted to relay the word to her son little did she know he had already passed.

A YEAR AND HALF LATER

A year and half later after his death and burial a city clerk sent Bobby’s mother a letter notifying her that her son had passed. Using fingerprinting they had finally identified Bobby Driscoll body.

After 4 years the world finally knew the truth about the tragic ending of Bobby Driscoll death. The world finally learned the truth of the boy who refused to leave Neverland scared from the demons awaiting him.

He died nameless and without a penny to his name. Walt Disney’s Peter Pan would continue to gross hundreds of millions in the international box office. While the Iconic Character that the world watched and loved died penniless. Disney thrived on with their pockets full ready to take on the next childhood start victim.

My takeaway from this tragic story is Actors and child actors alike. No matter what human beings with real feelings and are not meant to be used for a Companies gain only to thrown to the waist side. It’s unfortunate what happened to Bobby Driscoll. This is definitely a cautionary tale for those who crave to become famous. And what some are willing to give up.

The (not so) Glamorous Journey To Becoming A Confident Writer

My journey to becoming a confident writer

When I was younger, I thought becoming a writer was the coolest thing in the world. I would watch movies with scenes where people sat at their typewriters and pecked away at the keys filling up pages with their creative thoughts and I wanted to be just like them. As it turns out, my journey to becoming a confident writer is not as glamorous as it all seemed back then.

Writing was always something I thought anyone could do. While it may seem easy, picking up your pen and writing what you want is not as easy as it appears. Finding myself as a writer has been a challenging journey with a lot of bumps along the way, some of which have even made me want to give up on my dream. I did not appreciate the difficulty of writing until recently when I started learning how to express myself further in my own articles.

Freckles and Lemonade 🍋

I have always loved words, and it was when I became an adult I finally found my niche in writing. But how can one gain confidence in their work? I would ask myself this question over and over again.

  • Learn from other authors who write differently than you do
  • Try reading other authors whose work is different from your own
  • Study others writers who write differently
  • Write, Write, and Write (practice makes perfect)

The path to becoming a writer is not as straightforward or easygoing. You have so many different paths you can take, it’s almost overwhelming at times. The more I wrote the better I became. I began to explore new topics and genres, I read as much as I could trying to learn everything there is about writing.

At times reflecting on the fact that it takes hard work and dedication to make it as a successful writer. The best way way for someone who wants success in their writing career would be by picking up a pen grabbing a piece of paper and start writing. Write your ideas down and your thoughts and use those to help create what you want to write.

Sometimes this means staring at a blank screen for hours on end, feeling like you’ll never get your thoughts out in a cohesive manner. And then there are the rejections, never enough time, always fighting for attention, and trying to please everyone. But despite all of that, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Writing is my passion and I’m grateful for every minute of it.

Right now all I can express to you is I never felt more comfortable in a community built on unity and growth. Most importantly I have never felt more confident.

Always Remember

Anyone who wants to become a writer can become a writer you just have to start writing! The more you write, the better you’ll get. Don’t worry about making mistakes everyone makes mistakes that’s okay. Just keep writing and learning from your mistakes.

Key Message: There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Just learn from those who came before you. Also don’t be afraid to share your work with others. Getting feedback from other writers will help you to improve your craft and become a more confident writer.

WRITING YOUR FIRST BLOG POST

No one can give you a fool proof guide to writing your first blog post. Different bloggers have different methods, and what works for one person might not work for another. However, there are a few general tips that can help you get started on writing your first blog post.

Keep it short and sweet. Your first blog post doesn’t have to be an epic essay. In fact, it’s better if it isn’t. Keep your first post short and to the point. You can always elaborate more in future posts.

Figure out what you want to say. This may seem obvious, but it’s important to know what your angle is going to be before you start writing. Do you want to share your personal experiences? Write about current events? Maybe offer advice on Home Decor and Interior Design. Once you know what it is you want to say, half the battle is already won.

I as you can see choose to write about Home Decor, that is my passion decorating and designing new spaces. So I made it my mission to share my advice with the world!

  • Don’t overthink it. Just start writing. The hardest part is getting started, but once you get going, the rest will come more easily.
  • Write about something you’re passionate about. If you’re not excited about the topic, it will be difficult to write engaging post.
  • Keep it relatively short and focused. People have short attention spans, so try to make your point quickly.
  • Engage with your readers by asking questions or soliciting feedback at the of your post. This will encourage comments and further discussion on the topic.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO)

SEO, or search engine optimization, is a process by which bloggers and website owners can use specific strategies to improve their sites ranking in search engine results (SERPs).

There is no single magic bullet when it comes to SEO writing, but employing a combination of these techniques can help your blog post or website rise to the top of SERPs. With that said, it’s important to keep in mind that SEO be thought out while writing any blog post or pages for your website

The Controversial Issues Behind Autism Speaks

When it comes to non-profit organizations working in the autism spectrum., most people are aware of Autism Speaks.

The Controversy

When it comes to non-profit organizations working with Autism, most people are aware of Autism Speaks. The organization has a reputation for being unsupportive of individuals with Autism.

Now this article and research is not my normal play ground but after diving deep in research for Autism. I keep coming across Autism Speaks and the controversy behind it. I needed to talk about this. If I can in anyway stop a family from being exploited and used for money by this organization.

In this article, we will explore why that is and what it means for anyone trying to find help or resources for family members who might be on the spectrum.

WHAT IS AUTISM SPEAKS?

Autism Speaks is a non profit organization, founded in February 2005, by Bob and Suzanne Wright. The organization’s mission is ” to increase understanding and awareness about autism spectrum disorder. and to promote services and supports for individuals and families affected by ASD”

That’s a broad mission, and any nonprofit can describe themselves in that way. So why is Autism Speaks so often singled out? First of all, Autism Speaks has a very high profile. It’s one of the largest autism-focused non-profits in the United States, and it receives a great deal of media coverage.

That alone can make it a lightning rod of controversial chatter. But beyond that, there are specific reasons that many people are critical of Autism Speaks.

WHY IS AUTISM SPEAKS SO CONTROVERSIAL?

There are many people with autism, parents of autistic children, and professionals who have had bad experiences with Autism Speaks.

There are a multitude of reasons why autism speaks organization is such a controversial topic.

One of these is that their approach to autism is ignorant and bares no resemblance to what it actually is and the struggle anyone with autism faces.

The Controversy of autism speaks blog post

A DANGEROUS ROAD TO FOLLOW

They portray autism as something that needs to be cured, like it’s some kind of disease. This is all thanks to their Eugenics founder, Suzanne Wright, who constantly uses language like”eradicate” when referring to autistic people.

They also pedal dangerous medical practices on the public by using fear mongering and imagery.

Their anti-vaccination propaganda is constantly being blasted out to the public through their outlets too, which only antagonises people with autism further and goes against evidence based practices.

They also don’t understand the needs of autistic people and how they would need to cater to them if they were at an event, assuming they should sit quietly in a corner while everyone else has fun.

They don’t seem to get that since someone with autism may have different needs from most people that they may need some extra care.

The controversy does not stop there. Not only do they have a bad reputation among autistic people but also among allies, parents and survivors with whom I’ve spoken with. This is because they’re one of the worst activist groups out there claiming to do good work on the issue of disability.

As a mother of a child on the spectrum, I cannot recommend this organization to anyone I know who is living on the spectrum.

There are many other organizations who fight for and listen to those with disabilities more than Autism Speaks claims to do.

 Controversy behind autism speaks

WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN RESEARCHING ORGANIZATIONS

You might find that you need to do some searching to find organizations that are a good fit for you and your needs. It’s important to keep in mind that even an organization that seems great for many families might not be suitable for you.

That’s normal every family has different needs, and organizations need to be sensitive to that.

There are a few things to keep in mind when you’re researching organizations especially if you’re looking for an autism-focused nonprofit. First of all, try to get a sense of the organization’s mission.

What does the organization hope to achieve?

What services do they provide?

What are its goals?

How are those goals reflected in its day – to – day work?

Beyond that, it’s important to find an organization that can meet your specific needs. You might want to talk to other parents and families who have dealt with similar issues.

Get recommendations from your school district or from therapist and specialist who have worked with you and your family.

HOW YOU CAN HELP EVEN IT YOU DON’T DONATE TO AUTISM SPEAKS

There are lots of ways you can help even if you don’t donate to Autism Speaks or other organizations.

You can volunteer, donate your time, or spread the word about autism focused organizations. If you’re not in a position to donate money or goods, you can still help by spreading the word. It’s important that people know about organizations like Autism Society, Autism Self-Advocacy Network, and Autism Empathy.

And you can help make that happen. You can share articles and news stories about those organizations. You can mention them in your social media posts. You can talk about them at school or at work.

It would be nice to see more sports teams advocate for Autism Spectrum. Now that my son is 7 years old in my area sports for children with disability is lacking a great deal. So maybe if you’re familiar with coaching or leadership you can sponsor a team or strat one in your community, which I think is a great idea by the way.

CONCLUSIONS

Autism Speaks is very controversial and for good reasons, but the organizations has also made efforts in recent years to improve and repair it’s relationship with the autism community and I do hope that it sticks and they stick with it. If you’re in the market for autism specific organizations, it’s worthwhile to look beyond Autism Speaks and to consider other options.

COMMON DEFINITIONS AND RESOURCES FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM

Some of the most common terms and definitions used when talking about Autism Spectrum in our children:

ASD: Autism Spectrum  is a medical condition that affects how people behave, think, and feel. ASD is characterized by a persistent alteration in brain development resulting in a range of dysfunctional behaviours and below average intellect.

HFA: High Functioning Autism is a form of ASD that impairs social interaction, communication skills and interests. People with HFA have above average intellectual ability.

LDI: Low Functioning Autism is relatively less severe. It corresponds to mild autism, Asperger syndrome, or classic autism. It primarily affects social interaction and social skills.

There are many resources available for parents on the autism spectrum. Here are some resources that can help you:

Respite care: This service provides a break from the day-to-day caregiving responsibilities to families or loved ones who are providing care for an individual with ASD. The resources are provided by an organization or individual contracted with the family.

IHSS in home support care: IHSS usually refers to health and Human Services System, which provides in-home support services to people who need help with daily living activities, such as taking medicine, bathing, cooking and eating, getting dressed, or going to the bathroom. IHSS workers also can provide support and assistance you may need while you’re alone at home with your child. They can get your son ready for school or take him to play dates, doctor’s appointments, or other activities. They can also pick him up from those places and help him transition indoors and out of the car.”

In addition to normal child care, there are several resources and programs available for parents on the Autism spectrum.

Recreation Opportunities: Promote social skills and develop independence in a safe environment. One-to-one Therapy: Provides one-on-one attention and personalized program tailored to the needs of a child on the Autism Spectrum. These programs include occupational therapy, speech therapy, auditory integration training, and many other types of therapy which assist the child and their caregivers in improving the quality of life for both.

Adult Services: Respite care is a program that provides individuals with dedicated time and resources to take care of any personal matters. Additionally, individualized home support care enables development of caring routines, self-help skills and time management to enable individuals with autism spectrum disorder to become more independent in their daily lives. Education:

ABA Applied Behavior Analysis is a science-based treatment program which uses procedures that teach children new behaviors that replace those that are inappropriate or dangerous.

SPEAK SPECTRUM PUBLICATION

A Welcome Letter from Speak Spectrum: To New Readers and Autistic Advocates

SPEAK SPECTRUM

WELCOME TO SPEAK SPECTRUM

Welcome to Speak Spectrum! I’d like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to you. I’m glad you’re here and reading my work. While I can’t fully understand what you may be feeling. I can promise you that I’m trying my hardest to do right by you and others on the spectrum.

In the last few months, my blog has grown by leaps and bounds. I’m glad it has. It has been a rewarding experience to have so many people willing to read what I write. Share my work with their friends and peers.

Gaining a wider audience has come with some new responsibilities. As more people find my blog, there’s also an increase in the number of autistic readers. Following along with my articles.

I wanted to use my voice and platform to create awareness for the Spectrum. A place where we can come together and share hope!

As someone not on the spectrum. I cannot fully understand what life must be like for them from their perspective. That would require me being autistic myself. Which means there are limitations to how much insight I can provide on their issues or experiences. I can only come to you as a mother of a child on the Spectrum. This Publication is a place where we can all feel comfortable sharing our experiences. Me as a mother maybe you as a brother, grandfather, cousin, or friend of someone on the spectrum you might know.

FACTS, FACTS, AND MORE FACTS

More than half of parents over the age of 50 are still living with their child, as about 85% of autistic people have difficulties living independently.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_spectrum

According to the latest CDC prevalence reports, 1 in 44 children (2.3%) in the United States had a diagnosis of ASD in 2018.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_spectrum

With these kind of statistics Autism Spectrum is not going anywhere anytime ever. I feel instead of always looking to find news ways to help them adjust to our world. Why not try to adjust to their world. That is not asking much because they live with these challenges everyday. We need to make a change not them. Speak Spectrum will give a platform for those who want write and read about the daily lives of those on the Spectrum. So we can all get to know and understand one another better. I encourage everyone to share their stories. Your story could help someone else!

I want to know everyone’s experiences. Just like at our Publication OPEN ENVELOPE. I have always wanted it to be about the writer and not just about the Publication. I feel the same about Speak Spectrum. It is a SAFE place for everyone to share stories it’s a open stage for you.

A NOTE TO MY AUTISTIC READERS AND WRITERS

I can promise you that I’m trying my hardest to do right by everyone on the Spectrum. I’m also hoping that you’ll extend me the same courtesy. As a writer not on the Spectrum I can never truly understand what it must be like to be autistic. This is not a criticism of me or you it’s a limitation of the human condition.

I will emphasize with you and what you experience. Ultimately, I’ll never really know what it’s like to be you.

I will never pretend I know as an autistic person. I will share my truth and resources with you as a mother of a 7 year old on the spectrum. I want to know all that I can to help others not be alone in their own situations.

I’m willing to learn from you to read your work. And to engage with you as best I can. So that I can improve my understanding of your situation and write about it in a way that takes your experiences into account as much as I can.

WHAT I AIM TO DO WITH THIS PUBLICATION

SPEAK SPECTRUM

I started Speak Spectrum to share my thoughts on Disability and Society, but also to create a safer space for autistic individuals to be heard as well.

I want to be more than just a writer, I want to be a true advocate for autistic individuals. My platform gives me a chance to do that.

speak spectrum autism freckles and lemonade hoodie in blue

Speak Spectrum wants to hear from you!

To do that I had to make conscious effort to make my writings more inclusive, welcoming and safe for autistic readers and writers. I have to be conscious of the language I use, the perspectives I write from and the reader /writer relationships that I foster through my work.

I’ve learned a lot since I started writing and now that I’ve gained a wider audience. I’ve also had the chance to engage with autistic readers who’ve helped me see how I can do better.

They’ve offered me feedback on my articles, recommended reading and challenged me on my perspectives, biases, languages and I’m grateful for all of it.

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME AND MY WRITING

I’m an ally: I’m not an autistic, I’m the mother of an autistic child. I’m on the side of autistic individuals, trying to help society understand and support them better.

WHAT IS AUTISM SPECTRUM?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. It’s a complex condition, and no two people with ASD are exactly alike. If you have a child with ASDyou may be wondering what to expect.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a range of conditions that affect how people see the world and how they behave in it. They also affect how people learn and interact with others. ASD is a neurological disorder that affects about 1 in 68 children. As many as 40 percent of children with ASD also have other conditions, such as intellectual disability or gastrointestinal issues. Individuals with autism may have difficulties understanding or expressing emotions in conventional ways. They may avoid eye contact or make repetitive hand motions. It may be difficult for them to grasp language as an abstract concept. These challenges result in unique challenges in every life area.

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), a guide created by the American Psychiatric Association that health care providers use to diagnose mental disorders, people with ASD often have: Difficulty with communication and interaction with other people Restricted interests and repetitive behaviors Symptoms that affect their ability to function in school, work, and other areas of life Autism is known as a “spectrum” disorder because there is wide variation in the type and severity of symptoms people… – https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/autism-spectrum-disorders-asd

AFTER THE DIAGNOSIS

As a mother with a child on the Spectrum. I can understand that an autism diagnosis can be life changing for parents. To be honest it can feel like it’s the end of the world. Let me tell you it’s not the end of the world. It’s the beginning of a beautiful journey.

This is especially true if you’re new to this diagnosis, or have never before come into contact with people living with Autism. I was lucky to have a co-worker that has been living a very successful and happy life. He had a new found a career, married to wonderful wife and loved Walt Disney World. He is doing just fine in this world and that can give any hope for the future. A parent’s first instinct will be to look up everything you can find about autism and so that’s what I did.

Some of my worries were how is this going to affect my child as he grows and if other kids will ever accept him as a friend. If your feeling this way it’s completely normal the more you educate yourself all these feelings will subside.

My son is in the second grade a special day class and he has lots of friends, goes to birthdays, has playdates outside of school and has a best friend at school. He is happy at school and loves to play with his friends and learn.

Another thing I worry about for the future is how he will support himself financially or emotionally as an adult.

Just Know You’re Not Alone

Wherever you are in this process, know that there is a light at the end of this tunnel, because the future of your child and mine has endless possibilities.

I hope that by sharing my own story, I’ll be able to assist other mothers on this journey and let them know that they’re not alone. I’m my son’s advocate in this world and one of my missions in life is to raise Autism Awareness for future generations to help bring more resources and bring a stoop to bullying.

Emerging research has uncovered a correlation between the use of Tylenol during pregnancy and neurodevelopmental disorders.

autism spectrum graph for freckles and lemonade blog post

Your first step should be to talk to your child’s physician. If you don’t feel comfortable, keep seeking a doctor that suits you and your child’s needs. Your child’s doctor will become one of your greatest advocates for your child and it is crucial to work with one that you trust and feel comfortable speaking to about anything on a regular basis. They will be able to inform you of what your child could be experiencing and give you some tools for helping them with those challenges.

Not all doctors will be well-informed about autism, however, so it’s important to ask questions and explain how your child is responding to their environment. This is especially important if your child is non-verbal.

Seek outside support

Seek outside help at this stage of your journey, just as I have for the last 4 years. I was fortunate to have Alta Regionals phone number and their continuous support. The Good, The Bad, And The Autism: Raising An Autistic Child In 2022

What defines autism? How is it diagnosed? Who is affected? How is it treated? What can be done to help those on the autism spectrum lead fulfilling lives? There’s a lot to understand about this complex disorder.

the good the bad and the autism article by freckles and lemonade blog

RAISING A CHILD WITH AUTISM

While I have written several pieces on the topic of autism in the past, this is the first time that I have ever considered it as a parent. What I have discovered is that there is much that people don’t know about raising a child on the autism spectrum. We hope that with this article, we can begin to explain some of the things that parents of children with autism face and how we can better support one another.

By relating my own experience, I hope to assist other mothers on this path and let them know that they are not alone.

Motherhood has provided me with both peaks and valleys, ranging from watching my son accomplish his goals to feeling isolated and abandoned. I also want to express my objectives for the future as I observe my son grow and learn.

I will share with you my experiences of motherhood, from the highs of watching my son achieve his milestones to the lows of feeling isolated and alone. I will also share my hopes for the future, as I watch my son grow and learn. I hope that by sharing my story, I can help other mothers who are on this journey, and show them that they are not alone.

A study done in Australia found that 42% of teens and adults on the Autism Spectrum do not feel comfortable leaving their own home because they often feel others treat them negatively.

WHAT IS AUTISM?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. It’s a complex condition, and no two people with ASD are exactly alike. If you have a child with ASD, you may be wondering what to expect.

It may be difficult for them to grasp language as an abstract concept. These challenges result in unique challenges in every life area.

Children with autism may experience difficulties with social interaction, communication, and interests, and may lack flexible thinking skills.

While we may often consider autism as a disorder that affects only the brain, autism actually affects many different parts of the body and the mind. It is important to remember that autism is a spectrum disorder and that each person with ASD has a different level of functioning, ranging from “high functioning” to “low functioning.” For example, someone who is on the high-functioning spectrum may be able to function in many aspects of life, while someone on the low-functioning spectrum may not. Additionally, the severity of an individual’s condition can vary greatly.

Some people with autism have very mild symptoms while others have more severe symptoms. It is important to recognize that autism is not something that can always be fixed. While there are many people who live independently and have a good quality of life, there are also many others who are unable to do so. If you are dealing with a child who has autism, it is important to have open and ongoing communication with both the child and his/her family members.

What To expect from this article

In this article, we’ll give you an overview of what it’s like to raise a child on the autism spectrum. We’ll explore the good and the bad, and we’ll provide some tips on how to manage the challenges.

the good the bad and the autism

THE DIAGNOSIS

My son was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old. It was a difficult time for me, but also an important one. I wanted to learn as much as I could about autism, and how I could assist my son. My family and the professional team I worked with were crucial to my success in this situation.

Because of this, I’m writing this journal to provide resources for those who don’t have them. It’s difficult to believe how much digging and searching I’ve done over the last five years to put the pieces of the puzzle together, yet no one is talking about them! There are help and resources out there, but no one is talking about them!

THE EARLY DAYS

My son’s early years were, in many ways, typical. He slept, ate, played, and grew, and several specialists came to the house to continue his therapy. He initially had several doctor and psychologist appointments for testing, assessments, and assessments at home, as well as assessments at a clinic. After we had developed a strategy, he began home therapy with a occupational therapist, a speech therapist, and a coordinator. This course of action lasted for about a year, and there were some improvements. We as parents must help our children adapt to this world in the best way possible. With Important skills, like having good hygiene, and how to play independently. Every child operates at their own speed and style, so we mustn’t expect miracles.

STARTING EDUCATION

When he turned 4, he started attending ABA (APPLIED BEHAVIOUR ANALYSIS), and this is where my journey into motherhood with an autistic son really began. It was here that I witnessed first-hand just how different my son was to other children his age.

For example, self-stimulation (spinning, hand flapping, etc.) is very common in children with autism.(Source: https://www.tpathways.org/faqs/how-to-discipline-a-child-on-the-autism-spectrum/)

He did not look them in the eye, he did not respond when they said his name, he did not engage with them, and he did not share. He did not even have a favourite toy, which is very unusual for an autistic child! I also noticed that he had no rhythm, which is a very common trait in autistic children he was so clumsy. He would just fall all over himself if he wasn’t careful. I was told that this was because his brain was wired differently from the other children.

THE UNIQUENESS

You may feel that your child is completely unique. You may feel that your child is unlike anyone else on the planet. You might feel as if no one could understand your child the way that you do. You might also feel that your child is unlike anyone else in your family and unlike any other person you know. If so, you’re not alone. Many parents of children with ASD feel this way. You might be frustrated by the fact that no one acknowledges your child’s uniqueness. People may insist that your child is “just like everyone else.” They may treat your child as if she is no different from anyone else. When people do this, it can be frustrating. You may want to explain that your child is special and deserves to be treated as such.

THE LOWS OF MOTHERHOOD

The lows of motherhood are many, but one of the most significant moments for me was isolating myself from others. I felt very alone, and I did not want to burden other people with my experience. I did not feel comfortable talking about it with those around me. I felt like I had to be strong, and that showing weakness was a sign of weakness. As a result, I found myself withdrawing from others, and I felt very alone.

THE BAD

There are definitely some challenging aspects associated with raising a child with ASD. First, your child will likely face some significant challenges as she grows. You may worry about how your child will be able to manage her emotions and relate to others as she gets older. You may worry about how your child will find a place in the world and find a career that she enjoys. You may even worry about your child’s long-term mental health. You may feel that your child is different from other people. You may feel that your child is unlike anyone else, and that can be a burden. Other people may not understand your child. They may not appreciate her uniqueness. They may not see the special gifts that your child has to offer the world.

THE FRUSTRATION

Raising a child on the autism spectrum can be frustrating. You might feel frustrated by the challenges that your child has to face. You might feel frustrated by the fact that your child can’t do what other children can do. You might feel frustrated by the fact that other people don’t understand your child and her needs. You may want to do everything in your power to help your child. It may be frustrating to know that there are some things you simply can’t do anything about. You can’t cure your child’s autism. You can’t change who she is. All you can do is help your child to function as well as possible.

Our child’s treatment should be tailored according to their individual needs.(Source: https://www.helpguide.org/articles/autism-learning-disabilities/helping-your-child-with-autism-thrive.htm)

THE LONELINESS

Raising a child with ASD can be lonely. You’re likely to feel isolated from the rest of society. In many cases, even other parents of children with ASD feel isolated. You may feel as if the challenges of raising a child with ASD have separated you from the rest of the world. You may feel that people don’t understand you and your child. You may feel that your child is so different from other children that she has no friends and no one to talk to. You may feel like you have no one to turn to and no one who understands what you’re going through.

TIPS FOR MANAGING THE CHALLENGES OF AUTISM

Autism takes up a lot of time, but self-care is also important. It is crucial to recognize that taking care of yourself is as important as time. It is crucial to keep self-care in mind when caring for a child on the autism spectrum. You will be able to perform better as a parent if you spend time on yourself.

self care for mothers with children who have autism

Talk to other parents. If you’re raising a child with ASD, you’re not alone.

There are thousands of parents just like you. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to find some in your area. You can look for local support groups and online forums for parents of children with ASD. – Seek support from your family and friends.

Other people can offer you support, but they can’t understand what you’re going through unless they’re parents of children with ASD. You may want to let them know that you appreciate their support but that they may not be able to fully understand what you’re going through.

Educate yourself. If you have questions about your child, don’t be afraid to ask them. If you have concerns, don’t be afraid to seek a professional opinion. If you’re worried about your child’s development or mental health, don’t be afraid to seek support. There are many people out there who can help you.

Advocate for your child. You may want to advocate for your child in a variety of ways. You may want to make sure that your child has the services she needs. You may want to make sure that people understand your child and her needs. You may want to make sure that your child has a place in the world and a way to contribute.

Having a good credit score is a sign of financial responsibility, and can be beneficial in many ways.

What is Credit?

With all the hype and fear mongering surrounding credit and your credit score, it’s easy to become confused. So let’s start by defining a couple important terms:

CREDIT

Credit : A credit account is a legally binding agreement with a creditor that allows you to borrow money, open a line of credit, or use someone else’s resources (like a car). This can be in the form of a loan, line of credit, or something called a ‘demand deposit’.

It indicates your likelihood of defaulting on debt. The higher the number, the more likely you are to repay what you owe on time. For examples purposes, I’ll use both numbers and letters throughout this article. However, in practice only numbers are used.

HOW CREDIT IS USED?

Your credit score is a three-digit number calculated by the major credit bureaus – Equifax, TransUnion and Experian – that helps lenders assess your likelihood of repayments. The higher your score, the more likely you are to be approved for credit.

Your credit score can impact the interest rates you are offered on loans, rates on insurance policies, your ability to rent an apartment, and even your chances of being hired for a job. A high score can lead to lower interest rates and better deals on everything from buying a car or home to applying for a job or renting an apartment.

To keep your score high, make all of your payments on time and stay within your credit limit. Paying bills late or using more than what is allotted can lower your score. You may even find that lenders won’t offer you credit at all if your score is too low.
